Some Assembly Required highlighted episodes for June
This month’s highlights include a sampled sampler, another Presidential theme and an interview with one half of the sound collage duo, Nubile G & The Spurious Whiz…
Episode 209 features a number of excellent tracks, including Lenlow’s “War Discographer,” and Jason Forrest’s Breakcore composition, “War Photographer,” from his 2005 release, “Shamelessly Exciting.” Lenlow’s Bastard Pop song mashes Jason Forrest’s same sample–based track, “War Photographer,” with “War,” by Edwin Starr, to create “War Discographer.” Check it out HERE.
Following on the heels of our recent GW Bush themed program, Episode 70 is a US President themed episode, featuring the voices of not just Junior and Senior Bush, but also Nixon, JFK and Reagan. Check it out HERE.
Our interview this past month was with Charles Watson (Episode 208), one of the co-founders of the Canadian label, DOVentertainment. The record label was responsible for dozens of albums and took a special interest in groups such as The Tape-beatles, John Oswald and Steinski, to name just a few of the sound collage artists they helped to promote. Watson is also one half of the band Nubile G & The Spurious Whiz, so this was an especially interesting episode. Check it out HERE.
