This sculptural installation is a work-in-progress, originally conceived as a setting for performance in 2002. Various performance pieces and short plays have grown out of this piece, including "The Near Approach of Mars" (2003) and "Evening at the American Consul" (2006). A second version of the central sculpture will be created in fall/winter 2008-2009, which will have freely moving and fully articulated arms, as well as additional masks.
