SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED highlighted episodes for December

This months highlights include a new favorite mashup, a radio themed episode and an interview with legendary turntablist, DJ Qbert…

Check out Episode 221 to hear the 2008 Some Assembly Required interview with Invisibl Skratch Pikl, DJ Qbert, along with 8 tracks by the artist and the band he co-founded with DJ's Mix Master Mike (The Beastie Boys) and Shortkut. The Invisibl Skratch Piklz debut album, released in 1997, features the trio performing as a turntablist band. The group is widely acknowledged as being the first to push the concept of a DJ crew to this next level. DJ Qbert has won numerous awards both as a solo turntablist and in groups. Check out Episode 221 HERE, for our interview with the artist.

Other standouts this month include a Radio Theme (Check out Episode 132 HERE), featuring everything from cutups and mashups to circuit bending, dictionaraoke and electronic music, as per usual. The twist this time out is that all the tracks had something to do with the theme of Radio. I also discovered a new personal favorite mashup this month, by the Illuminoids, in Episode 220, mixing classics by Bauhaus, Beck and Devo. How can you go wrong with these ingredients? Check out Episode 220 HERE.

Stay tuned as Some Assembly Required heads into the final weeks of its tenth year. We’ll be celebrating our 10th Anniversary on January 27, 2009.
