I began painting in black and white as a stylistic exercise, as an attempt to free up from ridged form (a.k.a. anal perfectionism) and be able to paint more quickly without mulling over the dictates of color. But what has transpired is a new evolution of a separate style, one that I have actually been able to sell.
My pallet evolved as I kept working. My first painting in this style was done in various dilutions of Ivory Black, with the next painting I used Ivory Black & Paines Grey. As things have progressed I have added Sepia & Van Dyke Brown to the pallet for greater tonality of shape and form.
