Curator's Statement

There's something about a line that is at once intriguing and unnatural. In art, representations of line in the figure tend to capture something that feels tangible, yet in reality is nothing more than transitory illusion. Perhaps, this is what makes drawing such a magical technique.

The creative wand of power, be it pencil, paint, ink or a mouse directing pixels, direct the line as if it were a serpentine creature. The more movements the wand make, the more complex the spell of line becomes. Precision and detail can create spellbinding images, yet simplicity and freedom can elicit just as much awe in the eye of the beholder. This collection focuses on the later.

These pieces enchant the viewer with their freedom. They don't pretend to be exacting works of draftmanship. Instead they depict women in quotidian moments, magically elevated by the flow and ebb of emphemeral realities being engraved into divine permanence. Idealization is replaced by the emotion of spontaneous linear perceptions.

Women have often viewed as mysterious and magical beings, and these creations do a beautiful job into giving the viewer a glimpse into their world. These pieces enjoy the dance, wonder about the future, think about the divinity and simply observe those who study them. The enchantment of line will draw the viewer into the drawing and unexpected realms of joy and curiosity.
