When mnartists.org put out a call for collections, I thought it was a good way to present my work in some sort of cohesive fashion. Unfortunately, this was easier said than done since most of my work is not done in a series & if it is it's relatively small or the quality is all over the damn place.
The one group that is best from a representational standpoint is also the most controversial even though it really shouldn't be. Since the Dadaist used found "readymade" objects & called them art, others have been experimenting with this genre. Work running the gamut of assemblage, collage & appropriated art to sampling music is now commonplace. Despite this rich history, I've been told by other members in the arts communitied "that isn't yours work, you just ripped off someone elses". Since then, I've wondered if those same people that got their panties in a bunch about the Smurfs in "Red Menace" get equally as riled up about Duchamp's "L.H.O.O.Q."
