Hand me the VACUM attachment
The Visual Arts Critics Union of Minnesota announces the latest issue of the VACUM attachment now out in the Spring 2006 Rain Taxi review of books. The eight page spread is written and edited by VACUM members and published biannually in the award winning literary journal.
As an organization VACUM is dedicated to fostering critical discourse on the visual arts, educating the public about art criticism, and mentoring young writers.
Aside from producing the VACUM attachemtn, VACUM facilitates interplay between critics, artists, and the public in regular "trialogues" at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts where critics respond to the local artists's exhibitions presented at the MAEP.
VACUM also participates in the "3D Saturday nights" program at Franconia Sculpture Park where a critics panel responds to the work of residnet artists.
Membership includes an eclectic group of writers--Michael Fallon, Ann Klefstad, Andrew Knighton, Glenn Gordon, Jan Estip, Thomas O'Sullivan, Clea Filien, David Lefkowitz, Patricia Briggs, Jakki Spicer, Mark Wojahn, Amanda Vail, Diane Mullin, Alex Starace, Camille LeFevre, Chris Atkins and others. This collection features some of them.
Now if only they would start a "VACUM Vino" night at Lucia's wine bar.
