Do you own a set of golf clubs?
No, I don’t.

On a scale of 1-5, rate your own environmental activism:
Nearly all my sculptural materials are recycled. (I get them from tree-cycling lots, quarry refuse, and scrap yards.) My first sculptures were made out of wood, because it was a material I could find freely in Belgrade, Serbia. With this experience, I developed a love for wood.

Motivation behind your concept:
The idea of using recycled trees came from a series of work that used trunks and branches that couldn’t be ground up into wood chips. I exposed the metal bolts and chain link fences that were imbedded in this material. Back in Belgrade, I used only hand tools (axes, chisels, and rasps), but in the U.S., I discovered the chain saw. I think of it as hundreds of chisels cuts at once.

Strategy for playing your hole:
Watch out for the trees!

The perfect tune to listen to while playing your hole?
The Serbian song “Dzurdzev Dan (George’s Day),” performed by the Brass Messengers
