I paint because the world is so beautiful. For many years I have understood that I have an obligation to respond to the beauty around me. I am always amazed at the ways in which my eyes and my mind are opened when I paint. When I look deeply, I see deeply - so painting is both learning and meditative experience. For me, painting is a gift in the most personal sense.
