My interest in sculptural forms and jewelry began early in life although a career as an artist never occurred to me at the time. After a 30-year career in health care I embarked upon a radically new and different occupation by enrolling in the Jewelry Program at MCTC.
Strong graceful curves, the play between positive and negative space and a diamond that seems to float in air thrill me.
My work draws on the graceful simplicity of natural forms as well as the geometric shapes popularized by mid-century Scandinavian design.
All of my work is handmade using traditional techniques.
Sawing, filing, sanding and polishing have a meditative quality for me.
My goal is to make jewelry that is wearable, that makes a statement but doesn’t shout...that achieves a balance.
My work is shown at the Grand Hand Gallery in St Paul and Hannah by Design in Denver Colorado.
