A self-taught artist, I work with collage, fiber arts (crochet, knitting, sewing, shibori, dyes, upcycling), photography, assemblage, and found-object sculpture.
I’m compelled to tell stories and engage the viewer to think about their own lives through myths, masks, or memories; many of them are self-portraits. Most of my work involves human engagement, social issues, and the awareness of human frailty, including my own. I create highly textured objects, yarn sculpture, collage, assemblage, and books. To care for the planet, I try to use found objects and natural dyes.
As co-founder of the former Outsiders and Others gallery, I was inspired by the diversity and beauty of the work — and explore becoming an artist myself.
