  • Shelby Awada updated the Artwork three radios
In Three Radios, 3 radios have been installed on a table to communicate to each other. A stripped wire connected to the capacitor of variable transmitter communicating to receiver, the one output amplifier, fine-tuned to find the silence. The two very-near frequencies of Fixed Transmitter and Variable Transmitter create a beat frequency between two oscillators called a combination tone, or heterodyne. The beat frequency gets translated into sound that you hear in Receiver.  so when a participan…

  • Shelby Awada updated the Artwork Somewhat Harmonic
Interactive installation  crafted based upon a design by Karl Sims. a table set up with three pendulums that participants use to manipulate the frequency ratios to illustrate different shaped designs by raising weights on both of the lateral pendulums, or just the rotary pendulum. Different frequency ratios give off different characteristic patterns. Is it often found that the most interesting or appealing designs occur when all the pendulums swing at similar but slightly different frequencies?…
