Lucy Picasso (Johnson)
Exploration, past experiences, and people are some of the major inspirations for my work. I use a wide variety of mediums to express my love for exploration, materials and ideas to share my past experiences, and take inspiration from others to create portraits. The mediums that I have used thus far include thread for sewing, shells and beads for jewelry making, acrylic paint, charcoal, water color pencils, colored pencils, sharpies, and coffee grounds. It is important to me to push myself and try new mediums in order to expand my understanding of art. My favorite medium to work with is acrylic paint because I am able to use bright colors. While working on my art, I enjoy listening to music and looking at books for guidance and inspiration. After I have completed a piece of art, I get a sense of accomplishment and feel proud of what I have done. Before coming to Interact, I had no prior experience with art, but now I find it to be very calming and rewarding. I love that I am able to create artwork and then sell it, so that others may enjoy it as well and I am able to share my experiences and inspirations with others.
