    Mitochondrial was conceived while at an Artist Residency in Tularosa, NM. Fascinated with the concept of Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), this smallest chromosome coding for 37 genes and 16,600 base pairs is inherited solely from the mother.   This rabbit hole brought me to the concept of Mitochondrial Eve, our matrilineal most recent common ancestor, a woman from whom all living humans today descend.  A beautiful thought, that though she was not the only woman alive at the time, we are all connecte…

    Bridges, did not intend to become a family of works. Immediately after the 35W bridge collapse, I became acutely aware of the significance of bridges in our culture, specifically the culture of the Twin Cities. I felt the need to paint my heartache.   The initial work was titled Interruption.
