Susan has mid-western family roots in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. She lived in St. Paul and Florida as a child and teen, and in New York City and Minneapolis as an adult.
Susan took classes at the Art Students League and oil painting instruction through the School of Visual Arts and quietly and privately painted in her Brooklyn brownstone apt. while working as a film sound editor and assistant on feature, documentary and network projects in New York City through the 1980’s and 1990’s. Since moving back to Minneapolis she's continued to work in visual media as a video producer and a painter.
Susan is an intuitive painter, often playing with the geometry and poetry of the landscape. Her subjects recall a memory, feeling, or a sense of a place.
Her paintings have been shown in many group shows and galleries and her work can be found in private collections throughout the U.S. and abroad.

I’m an intuitive painter. Years ago I began painting landscapes because nature is an essential connection in my life. Now, I take first impressions and ideas and interpret it through my own internal lens, often to play with both the geometry and the poetry of nature. My work has elements and forms that may not necessarily be recognizable, but they are always rooted in the landscape and the life of the mind, and will often recall a feeling, memory, or a sense of place. Although I’m primarily an oil painter, I’m currently experimenting with different substances, materials, and processes to achieve deeper sensory realms.
