Activity

  • Drew Bode updated the Artwork Untitled
This piece I was playing with spontaneous geometric placing with more refined areas to assemble someting representational. Exploring how geometry is echoed within nature.
  • Drew Bode updated the Artwork Saw Red
Expressing the feeling of listening to music and seeing colors, and movement.
  • Drew Bode updated the Artwork Athena
In this piece I wanted to try to merge classical ideals of proportion with a more wild style of interlocking geometric shapes and brush strokes. Playing on the spontaneity that fills the world and a more rigid belief of beauty.
  • Drew Bode updated the Artwork Untitled
I often bounce back and forth between more ambigous geometric forms like the sort of liquid jelly beans making up the subject here, and more rigid, square, familar geometric shapes. There is a loosness and organic flow to the rounded forms here which make things seem more liquid, permeable, and encompising.
  • Drew Bode updated the Artwork Untitled
This piece I was forcing myself to focus on space and simplicity. Often times I feel I overwork things and the idea is what is important, not the amount of paint. There is a sort of music in the spacing of geometric forms like the kinetic sculptures of Alexander Calder.
  • This piece was inspired by a local MC, now deceased, and his words on agony. Death can bring on a tremendous amount of suffering, but in this pain we are reminded of temporal significance and reconnected to the beauty of life.
  • Drew Bode updated the Artwork The Geometer
Playing on coincidences and how the self and natural world (represented by the hummingbird) fit into geometric representation of the universe. The woman is the geomitizer of the world and around her things fall into place.
