Making my art is a time when I can delve deeply into the private activity of assembling colors, tones and gestures on paper. The process is an unfolding and growth of visual ideas. All of my experience and pursuits shape my thinking, and pull me in various directions. Familiar motifs and past works are revisited and viewed in a new light. New paths are explored. I look for a passage--for the painting to show an energy that parallels the range of thought and feeling I encounter in life.
