Kim Jones is an expressionist painter working in large scale oils on textured canvas ,and mixed media on 140lb. watercolor paper. She describes herself as a former hippie married to a former recon marine and because of this is certain the universe has quite a sense of humor. When she is not painting, she is on the motorcycle with her husband as much as weather permits, which actually leaves her a lot of studio time, as this is afterall, Minnesota.
She also spends part of her time in Arizona, the other place she calls home. This is reflected in much of her work. She first taught herself to paint at 14 using a paint by number set as her first guide. Later she experimented with watecolors and pen and ink on paper.
Most of Kim's ideas come from her dreams and meditations. She has spent most of her life practicing various mind/body techniques and feels these impact her ideas and subject matter.
She has studios in both her homes, and is represented by galleries in the southwest and midwest.
