Jeremiah Soup in a growth-oriented illustrator, painter, and maker residing in Minneapolis. Using figurative art and suggested narratives, Jeremiah intertwines shape, line, and form to create or reinforce specific moods, environments, and ideas within their work.
Jeremiah creates with an emphasis on versatility and accessibility to all humans.
My work is rooted partly in the history, partly from deep within myself, and partly in the larger social climate. In my work I employ extensive self-appointed symbolism to investigate space, forms within space, the space in-between, and what this all means.
Painting is my primary tool exploring diptychs, and triptychs, taken non-religiously with pride from a personal and ancestoral past of Christinization.
In my performance, I seek to explore where my own approach to painting can meet, reinforce, and even trade places with other art forms. Here I explore fleeting moments, solidarity, and at times, simply respond.
Jeremiah explores social and systemic issues, Christianization, oppression, suppression, and repression, intimate moments, empowerment, love, community and complex solidarity.
