I am a published poet and the author of two young adult novels: DRAMA QUEENS IN THE HOUSE (Roaring Brook/Macmillan 2014) and a novel-in-poems, ESCAPING TORNADO SEASON (HarperCollins). My four-part poem, "Memorial Day," was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. I'm also a visual artist, working with mixed media collage and assemblage. Most of my work (writing and art) focuses on family stories -- real and imagined, my own and others. For 20 years I was an adjunct professor at California State University, Northridge teaching for the Communication Studies and Theatre Departments and retiring as Assistant Director of the Educational Opportunity Program. My husband and I returned to Minnesota in 2006, finding the Twin Cities to be an even more vibrant location for the arts than it was when we lived here in the 1970s.
