I am a self-taught, emerging artist but photography cast a spell on me long ago. Since I was in my late teens, I started exploring with a little 35mm Minolta camera that I asked for as a high school graduation present.
I was too shy to take many photos of people so I often focused on architecture, nature, and the everyday shuffle of life. I’ve always seen moments in time as magical. As an adult, I’ve loved documenting my children’s journeys as they grow into their own skin, hearts and minds. I have also been fortunate to travel far and wide. Photography has been my quiet, trusted companion on these trips as well as in my life.
Recently, I started thinking about the invisible world around us and how it potentially impacts our own energies, moods as well as how it affects nature. Science has proven that everything is energy. I wanted to capture invisible energy in everyday life. I never imagined it would be as brilliant as this!
I use a hand-held energy filter that splits light into its different frequency components seen through multiple colors. As a result, photos can be captured that show energy field effects invisible to the naked eye.
I purposefully photograph aspects of life that can often go unnoticed. Yet, when we take the time to pause and truly look beyond the obvious, we uncover the multiple dimensions that exist parallel to ours. Thus, I work in the realm of what I call, “multi-dimensional photography.”
A discovery process evolved and I use this developed methodology with each original “field photo” that is taken with the energy filter. From here, the art emerges. Distinct geometry, faces, animals, totems and amazing imagery come through the process. I have no control over what evolves nor could I ever predict the outcome of a final product.
There are countless ways one can interpret each image. There is so much motion, depth and fluidity in every piece. I see something new every time I revisit a photo. I hope they give you as much joy and inspiration as they give me!
