  • Opening Reception: Feb 7, 6 to 8pm This exhibition is a glimpse into a few corners of the life and crossroads of a ‘young, gifted and black’[1] artist in Minneapolis. This show is being produced at this time to help celebrate African American History Month and to foster dialogue toward understanding and equity.  We know this is a tall order and ask you to please join us at the opening or one of the special events to participate in the conversations and help make it reality. For this exhibit…
  • John Schuerman updated the Event This Is Ours
This Is Ours A one day, outdoor exhibition at Lake Hiawatha Park The Opening Reception is on Saturday September 8, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The exhibition is open from Sunrise to Sunset, one day only, Saturday, September 8 in the SE corner of Lake Hiawatha park.  All art work will be or happen near the water’s edge between where Minnehaha creek enters and exists Lake Hiawatha (south side of the Lake). Featuring the art of Sean Connaughty, Erica Spitzer Rasmussen, Mayumi Amada, Presley Martin and …
  • John Schuerman posted a new Artwork Still The Sky
This exhibit is about the last natural open space city dwellers can watch: the sky.  It places the vast sky in relation to the tiny human beings.
  • John Schuerman updated the Artwork Culture As Weapon
Culture As Weapon was an exhibit about gun violence and the conditions in America that give rise to it.
  • Medium of Exchange: the art of cash was an exhibition about money, arguably the greatest human invention.
  • John Schuerman updated the Artwork The Rose
The rose contains the sun, the rain, clouds and dirt.
  • John Schuerman updated the Artwork Dirt in spaces
Dirt makes its own patterns. I've drawn this dirt pattern as realistically as possible in both color and form, and then fit this dirt pattern into spaces designed by me --a human being. So, natural pattern is bounded by human pattern.
  • John Schuerman updated the Artwork Nuts vs. Seeds
Footbal play diagram. Nuts are bigger but seeds are faster.  Natural elements have been organized into the human game plan.
  • Football Play diagram, Chicks and Dudes vs. the Rose and Pepper Petals.  Human achievement exploits the natural world -and we seem to compete. Women and men are both in the game against nature.
