Basil Considine is a composer-librettist and playwright by day and a music director and scholar by night. He writes plays, directs operas, and disappears into archives to research colonial theatre and controversy on the 18th-century musical stage. A long-time Boston-area resident, Basil moved to Minneapolis in 2013, where he is now the artistic director of Really Spicy Opera, a co-director for the Morningside Theatre Company, and the performing arts editor for the Twin Cities Arts Reader.
Basil is a former playwriting student of Lydia Diamond and studied opera composition with Samuel Headrick. He spends equal time writing musicals, operas, and plays, and studied indigenous theatre in Mauritius from 2011-2012.
