To me being an artist is about approaching life with inquisitiveness and processing my surroundings by finding answers to questions through creative self-exploration. I hope my work captures the narrative of never losing my childlike wonder and fascination with the world around me. If I continue wandering to find I will never be lost.
Throughout much of my adolescence my wandering mind and active imagination seemed to get me into trouble more than anything else. I felt insecure about my lack of focus. Until one day a teacher quoted J.R.R. Tolkien, “All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost.” He then said, “It’s a blessing, not a curse, you’re an artist, embrace it.” His words had an impact on me. I accepted and quickly came to appreciate my wandering mind and what it would find.
