D. Allen (http://thebodyconnected.com) is a queer poet and multidisciplinary artist based in Minneapolis, MN. They completed an MFA in Poetry at the University of Minnesota in 2017 and are currently a 2019-20 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow; D. has recently received a 20% Theatre Company Q-STAGE Fellowship, a VSA Minnesota Emerging Artist Fellowship, and a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.
D.’s first book, A Bony Framework for the Tangible Universe (The Operating System, 2019), is a hybrid collection of poems, lyric essays, and images that explores queer, trans, disabled embodiment. In Spring 2019, D. presented their first full-length solo piece for the stage, NET/WORK, which weaves personal narrative with disability theory using sound, video, movement, and handknit textiles. Currently, D. is continuing to develop NET/WORK, while also working on a lyric memoir and engaging in solo and collaborative experiments in a range of disciplines.
