Paying nature homage with my work~
I spent my early years exploring the woods & water by my house. Those adventures created a sence of excitement & discovery that a treasure would be found. I am still bringing a leaf , stone,twig, acorn cap ... home from walks. And I still appreciate my time spent walking the woods and clearing my thoughts . Always observing the seasonal color changes and the stages the plants go thru. Noticing new mushrooms popping up and velvety green of the moss.I could go on and on but I will spare you (-;
The mediums I work with copper ,aluminum, wood & viraty of paints serve as inspiration on there own. Besides nature I need to include fabrics & texture as idea reasources . I am naturally courious and honestly it doesn't take much to start my imagination .
I am a self taught artist & have been creating & making since childhood . My art is unique & original . The idea to use copper & aluminum came about when redesigning furniture & creating panels for the doors.
The design process I have created starts with my drawing . I enlarge the drawing and transfer it to copper. I build in my texture & pattern by working from the front and back . I use the hand painted aluminum as a inlay or stand alone appliqué. The copper surface is painted . The substrate is 3/4" wood panel that is painted with a variety of techniques. Edges are finished with paint and thin metals .
I am very excieted & pationate about my creations . If I can I like to know where they end up (-;
