May of 2016 Kelsey obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. Using painting and photography her work ranges from realistic to completely non-objective. She is obsessed with the subconscious mind and the aesthetic beauty of the nude human body. Her photographs of landscape and fine art nudes feed reference to her paintings. Two artists that inspire Kelsey’s work include- painter Carolee Schneemann and performance artist Marina Abramović.
Using acrylic paints I create images of the human body on canvas. Digital photography allows exploration of form by having models pose in awkward & nostalgic positions. This feeds reference to many paintings that are either planned or inspired by the photographs. The viewer is left to confront and react to the image of the nude human flesh.
