<p align="center">&ldquo;Moment/Momentum&rdquo; Ellie Kingsbury and Eleanor McGoughGallery 122 @ Hang ITOpening May 10th, 2013 from 7-9 pmMay 10th- June 22nd, 2013<p align="center">Gallery 122 at Hang It presents &ldquo;Moment/Momentum&rdquo;, the photography of Ellie Kingsbury and the paintings of Eleanor McGough. This show opens on May 10th from 7-9 pm, and runs through June 22nd 2013. &ldquo;Moment/Momentum&rdquo; is the blending of two artist&rsquo;s perception of time, atmosphere and fleeting relationships interpreted from up close to afar. This exhibit contrasts the speed and force of McGough&rsquo;s large-scale paintings to the delicate and intimate images of Kingbury&rsquo;s photography.Eleanor McGough&rsquo;s paintings explore the fleeting places of larger patterns of weather, migrations, motion, and time. Imagined life forms inhabit terrestrial, aquatic, or atmospheric spaces, revealing fragile and tenuous relationships within these vast systems. McGough is influenced by the research of high altitude entomology that details the astonishing fact that billions of insects are carried in air currents through the layers of our atmosphere. This idea serves as a visual metaphor to the broader context that all life is transitory and swept up in immense patterns of energy.Ellie Kingsbury&rsquo;s photography explores her appreciation of the cycle of growth and decay and how these cycles speak volumes about their experiences with time. Her process began with taking images of ordinary garden produce that wasn&rsquo;t exactly at its peak freshness and not perfectly shaped. She then started wondering how the cycle of human life ran parallel to these vegetables and began to photograph ordinary, middle-aged people - similarly not at peak fitness and not &ldquo;perfectly shaped&rdquo;. In studying the two together, she aims to highlight a shared dignity of continuance and being. Kingsbury&rsquo;s project is funded, in part, by the Minnesota State Arts Board through the arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the Legacy Amendment vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.Gallery 122 at Hang It is a fine art gallery that features different local artists throughout the year and specializes in custom picture framing and art.
