I began creating ceramic corsets five years ago because my husbond, Jason Moan, and I needed some thing to wear to an art event. I love to see everyone formed and shaped by something I create with my hands and out of clay. I enjoy every step of creating and presenting corsets. It doesn't matter what the event, mood, or if the corset is for a client or a specific model. People are always surprised by a ceramic corset, and many are skeptical about how comfortable they can be. I wear them a lot and think that they are comfortable compared to many other corsets I have worn in the past. Plus, you don't have wires digging into your rib cage. They are two to six pieces, which makes them very adjustable and comfortable. Being ceramic, I can make the corsets into just about anythingI treat them more like sculptures than traditional fashion. Many designs materialize as I think about the certain themes I'm going for. Which, can range from faries and fire, superheroes, nations flags, wedding dresses, or custom designs inspired by the clients themselves. Sometimes, it is just the clay talking to me as I shape it. My tile is another story. If I'm creating it for myself, most of my subject matter will be inspired by my parents' artwork. My father is a modern/cubist painter and my mother is an impressionist, and I like to create three-dimensional copies of their paintings in tile. The flooring in my house is an ongoing process of covering just about every square inch with my tile interpretations of my parent's paintings. Moving into 2008, my eyes are on the horizon. I'm marketing my corsets and tile along with my parents art and my husband's light sculptures. All four of us are focused on our art as full-time careers and look forward to traveling across the country and working with new people as we explore our own explosions of creativity.<br/>
