This piece of garden sculpture is a functional basin collecting water for birds, butterflies, dragonflies, chipmunks to drink from. Looks especially luminous in the sunlight as the basin is painted with iridescent paints. It's created from crack proof concrete and measures 8" at the longest side. This is a one of a kind original floorcloth rug called Moon Over Waves was created with a Japanese sensibility. The piece measures 20” x 31” painted in acrylics and it's a great size for in front of a doorway, top of stairs, in front of a dresser or in the bathroom. This piece also works well as a wall- hanging or tablecloth. When I create designs for the home, I try to provide a sense of peace and well being. The feeling of water naturally lends to this feeling. It was painted with iridescent copper and bronzes that come alive when light plays light on the rug creating a luminous quality that changes during the day. My floorcloths are extremely durable and can last decades to life. They also work in places pile rugs don’t -like under dining room tables, in kitchens, and are easily kept looking new with a quick sweep and soapy towel. They are also wheelchair friendly and great for people with allergies because there is no pile to house dust mites and pathogens. I also create custom orders from yourwants and ideas in any size or shape. The floorcloths are sealed with several coats of polyacrylic and paste wax for durability.

This is a one of a kind original floorcloth rug created in the Arts and Crafts or Mission style and measures 28”x57” (or 2’4” x 4’ 9” in feet) a great size for a couch front, near a buffet, hallway runner or entryway. The pattern called Woven Copper with Falling Squares has a background with iridescent shades of copper, bronze and browns blended together giving a woven feel. With light playing on the rug; a luminous quality is created by the metallic colors .

It's almost like it has its own sun within; when placed near a sunny spot the floorcloth rug has a life to it. While the design has metallic golds and coppers; it's anything but gaudy. The style works with many styles, but Arts and Crafts-Mission Style and Japanese decor; it would be particularly suitable. I am a naturalist at heart and am always concerned about the well being of Minnesota's local flora and fauna. In this piece I used a Japanese art feeling and used our Whooping Cranes in the scene to make it relevant to our area. Hopefully reminding us all to preserve habitat for the wild inhabitants around us. On a related note this summer my husband and I rescued a sickly and injured mallard duck and brought it to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (Roseville) and to our delight received a postcard 2 months later indicating it's full recovery and subsequent release- what a wonderful place! This is a painting and a floorcloth (or wallhanging), but several people have commented when it's on the floor -wow that took a lot of guts to inset that tile in the floor. I guess if several people came to that conclusion separately; there must be something to it, although I wasn't trying for that; I'll take it. Incidently, I do create tile pictured on my other mnartist site (Katherine Clayton).

This design called Galaxy has the feeling of outerspace to me even though the colors are lighter and brigher than most people imagine the solar system to look like. It's easy to loose yourself in this design and it's another pattern that has a happy and yet calming effect on people. Even though it's intended for adults; kids seem to gravitate to this pattern.

This floorcloth design is painted in a waterclor technique (in acrylics) for the background; it has the feeling of a body of water. The prisms float through space on the surface and have a luminous bronze lines encasing the triangles with the lines connecting the design. This floorcloth has a scientific and technical feel, yet it is relaxing effect on you and in your space. This is an alternative shape to the rectangular or circular rug; this shape is ideal for kitchens- handles spills and is easy to clean.

I designed this wallhanging / floorcloth for someone who lives with wildlife on a west coast island and wanted to bring spirit of nature to her interior. This is an original design influenced by Japanese art and has asian patterened fabric behind. Since I am a gardener too, I love plant life in all stages and here I used skeletonized Chinese Lanterns in the foreground. Everyone loves Chinese Lanterns, but I find the skeltonized version more interesting- they look knited by nature to me. This size is 5'x 2' and is painted in acrylics on canvas.
