The award will be revealed during an awards show in Santa Ana, CA on November 4, 2006."I thought I would create a sarcastic recording this time following a long hard winter of hauling water, wood and dealing with all the snow...that didn't happen. No matter how much I tried, 'Simple Life' became a song to the natural setting and wonderful life that I have!"Includes: Cat Steven's 'Peace Train'...and my reflections of our hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, 'Calling'. Dan Chouinard performs an accordian solo and the recording includes a Quicktime Video of the regional Emmy winning "Soaring on Mended Wings" about the Raptor Center at the UofMN, and I had the opportunity to release a raptor...
This was my first instrumental work and I am thrilled and honored to have my music featured in this way. I received two national Awards of Excellence and the film received a regional Emmy nomination as well as was featured in the Toronto Environmental Film Festival. It was exciting to be part of these events be able to record the music while watching the television in my solar powered studio!
I recorded the album in my solar powered log cabin studio and released it during my 50th Birthday Party at Theatre Jeune Lune, November, 2002.I have two instrumentals on this album and I cover "Swim" by Stuart Davis, my hero as well as "Skating Away" by Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson...and "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan/Rod Stewart...The album cover was shot by Jim Brandenburg who also named the CD. While playing with the graphics on the computer, he put a little IF in the corner...and I didn't have a song with that title, and we didn't know it at that time, but I would go home and write the title cut for the album...
