The concept of just jotting you notes as you grow..."The larger font reads "Deliberate jottings to our son - creating a history that is exclusively his - point in time glimpses..."The photo shows the piece in an unfinished stated - the completed platter will be a gift to my son when he's old enough to understand the references.
The intent was to transition focus from the idea and move it to the visual texture that each of the individual impressions create.
"Is Hope Cliche?"

Part of an ongoing spiritual journey, this intimate bowl touches on the struggle of balancing the desire of being accepted in the secular world while attempting to develop a relationship with Christ. It now serves as a reminder that hope is not cliche, that each of us has been given the gift of grace (regardless of our weaknesses), and that earthly acceptance is ultimately a short-sighted end-goal to pursue.
Commissioned Bowl

Purchased as a wedding gifts for friends, this piece contains the young couple's wedding vows. The spiritual component of the piece, a few unexpected glaze effects, and a great relationship with the individuals that commissioned the work, combine to make this one of my favorite pieces.
Dwelling Series #1

"Hawthorne". A part of my Senior Seminar at Bethel College, this cathartic piece was one of several that explored the spiritual sediment that remained within me dating back to my parents divorce almost 13 years prior (we lived at 808 Hawthorne Ave when the event took place). Text was applied using sprayed stencils.

"That which is gone dances in the midst of me." Made just after my grandfather passed away, this piece serves as a reminder of the talents that my grandfather passed down through the generations. I used this piece to propose to my wife (Trisha) in February of 1999. The piece is finished with blue ash and copper red glazes.
