[b]June 14 - 15, 2013[/b] Two Minnesota artists -- choreographer Sarah LaRose-Holland and jazz pianist Butch Thompson — have collaborated to present "Destination Twin Cities," an impressionistic, time-traveling exploration of neighborhoods, landmarks, people and places that define urban life in Minnesota. Who were we, and who are we today? The performance includes images of Saint Paul's Swede Hollow neighborhood and iconic landmarks like the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis. Revisit the experience of the seedy Hennepin Avenue "strip" where jazz musicians provided the sound track and the counter-cultural antiwar lifestyle that emerged on Minneapolis' West Bank during the 1960s. This is just part of the story. "Destination Twin Cities" features Sarah LaRose-Holland's dynamically engaging dance company Kinetic Evolutions and renowned Grammy Award winning jazz pianist Butch Thompson. IT HAPPENED features music by Bono, Ingrid Michaelson, Cake, Bon Iver, Fun., Caravan Palace, Andrea Bocelli & Katharine McPhee. Ludovico Einaudi, Philip Glass, and the driving rhythms of Bhangra, a genre of riff-oriented popular music associated with the Punjabi region of India.

(a Sandbox Theatre production) [size= small][b]Inspired[/b] by [b]Sandbox Theatre’s[/b] research on Beatnik Giselle, they decided to see how far poets and dancers could take their work together. Sandbox sent out a simple call to poets, asking for the work they felt best expressed themselves. Sandbox received over 270 entries from around the country and selected 12 poets whose work they felt could be turned into movement. Now Sandbox has handed that work over to choreographers from the Twin Cities with only two instructions: (1) The entire poem must be heard or seen by the audience; and (2) the dance can last no longer than 5 minutes. [i]Dances With Chairs[/i], alienates, entices and provokes through a contemplation of the body in three permutations. The images conjure a device for defensive action, a repository of solace, and an object for betrayed expectations. [i]Paradox[/i], a new solo performed by Heather Klopchin, juxtaposes the quest for the pleasure of self acceptance against a landscape of antagonistic distrust. Una Setia will be sharing a modern dance piece influenced by jazz and hip-hop. Una studied at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Minnesota where she graduated with a B.F.A. in dance. Una teaches hip-hop dance and has been a yoga instructor since 2000. She teaches at yoga studios and corporations as well as offering private lessons and yoga parties. Una is a member of the Christopher Watson Dance Company and she also coordinates dance flash mobs. Christopher Watson Dance Company will present two dances in the Kinetic Kitchen performance. [i]Stage Theory[/i] was inspired by the concept of the “stages of life,” which were referenced in early Greek literature from the time of Hippocrates and are described in Hinduism as well as in Erik Erikson’s “Stages of Psychosocial Development." [i]Love in Trouble[/i], explores the complexities of relationships in trouble. This work will be presented as a work in progress. The completed work will premiere at our December concert at the Tech Box theater in the Cowles Center, downtown Minneapolis. She has an MFA in dance from the University of Colorado and has danced and choreographed in New York, California, and Oregon as well. Her work has been supported over the years by Red Eye Collaborations, the McKnight Foundation, the Jerome Foundation, and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. She was a founding member of Paula Mann Dance and Artistic Director of Riverbend Dance Arts from 1993-1999. Hauss has danced with Gomez Dance Group since 1998 and with Kinetic Evolutions since 2010. She and Sarah LaRose-Holland performed in each other’s dances in the late 90’s and both dancers enjoy the opportunity to work together once again. Sarah has also worked with Third Rabbit Dance Ensemble, Interstate Dance Collective, Gerry Girouard and the Christopher Watson Dance Company. Sarah teaches dance at Gustavus Adolphus College and teaches yoga at the Saint Paul Yoga Center. Joanie Mix is a choreographer, teacher and performer from Rochester, Minnesota, working in various places from there to Hudson, Wisconsin, and everywhere in between. Joanie is the director of the [i]Rainy Day Cabaret[/i] Dance Company, as well as a performer in Carrie Lande's[i] Live Wire Dance; [/i]both based out of Minneapolis. In September's Kinetic Kitchen performance, Joanie will be returning two pieces to the stage from earlier shows in 2012. [i]une pramenade danse la nuit [/i]- a minimalistic piece based on shocking statistics of teenage sex trafficking- was auditioned and chosen to be a part of this year's [i]Renovate[/i] performance at the Ritz Theater. [i]The Ravens [/i]- a fairytale journey of epic adventure and self realization - was created for the DCC 8 production of [i]Grimm ([/i]a show inspired by the Grimm Brother's Fairy Tales) with a more obscure selection of Grimm stories, [i]the Seven Ravens[/i], as the subject matter. [i]Grimm[/i] was held at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin in August of 2012. These are the two dances that Joanie and members of Rainy Day Cabaret will be performing at the Kinetic Kitchen Series on September 22nd, 2012.

Assembled and presented by John Munger's Third Rabbit Dance, the next Rabbit Show is playing WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8 at 7PM at BRYANT LAKE BOWL. $1 off with Fringe button. The topic is “Tenderness,” a quality sorely lacking in today’s world.[/size] Choreographers this time include veterans Kenna Cottman, Sarah LaRose Holland’s Kinetic Evolutions company, Kalila Indivar’s Smiling Lune company, Jim Lieberthal, Deidre Kellogg, and Mirah Ammal’s Al-Bahira company, plus Kimberly Lesik, Maria Fontana’s Cabaret, Karen Gullikson, and new faces Ruth Glaeser, and Betsy Schaefer. And John Munger himself choreographing Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness” on soloist Jennifer Stutsman.

You can eat, and booze up, in the full-serviced cabaret setting. Doors at 6:00pm on Wed Feb 8, performance (a little over an hour) at 7:00pm. [/size]She had the extraordinary privilege of spending 20 of those years as a principle dancer with the Zenon Dance Company. In 2007, Denise formed her own dance group, DAdance. She is honored and excited to present 2 premieres (works in progress) as part of Kinetic Kitchen. "Feel My Monkey WTF" is a duet choreographed for two women confronting self and ego altered and their honest dealing with not feeling. "Untitled" is a dance of elevation to pacification.[b][/b]

[size= small][b]Jennifer Glaws, [/b]Minneapolis based choreographer, will be presenting work exploring Logic of Birthright, time, legacy, place, and creation. [/size]Her work evokes a fusion of jazz and modern movement that exhibits raw, bound, and energetic qualities. The featured work “Where do I stand? Next to you.” (August 2011) is performed with an original score produced by Nate Rockswold.

Well, maybe a slam to the floor or other sundries. He is very honored and happy to be presenting again through Sarah LaRose-Holland's magnificent Kinetic Kitchen series, bringing along with him a number of artists who are quite familiar to Twin City dance fans: Brian Evans and Cade Holmseth. New work in progress, yet anchored by what has come before it. He is very happy to be presented with such wonderful colleagues who are also presenting tonight. It's great to be here at Patrick's![/color][/size]

Elsie [/color][color=#2a2a2a]is a mathematician and decision analyst who is learning about choreography later in life. She studies dance composition with Deborah Jinza Thayer at Zenon Dance School.
