"We're thrilled to be at the Fine Line this year," said Amy Hero-Jones, Executive Director of Patrick's Cabaret. "It's a terrific venue for showcasing some of the Twin Cites most exciting artists, and a great way for us to reach out to a wider community." Since January, the Cabaret has hosted close to three thousand audience members and presented 275+ artists. As part of the organization's mission, the performers receive 100% of the ticket sales, so the Cabaret depends upon financial support fundraising events, individual donors, grants and space rental. It's a hot topic in the media because of the economic downturn, and in hard times people tend to band together against their oppressors. In this case, an invisible force we have created against ourselves. [i]Just One More[/i] is a piece dedicated to exploring this topic and its many facets. Using an approach that, sometimes literal and sometimes satire, is aimed at creating an emotional and vicariously physical connection to the character(s)onstage. Step into the world of money and join our heroes for laughs, cringes, and wordplay. [b][/b] [b]Jennifer Glaws[/b] of [b]Jagged Moves[/b] will be presenting two dance pieces at the December Kinetic Kitchen. Both works proving physical alertness and spatial tension, with movement content focusing on one's own perception of living with either visual or physical impairments. a 2009 thank you For the past few years, I've greatly enjoyed connecting with choreographers and dancers through the Kinetic Kitchen and Kinetic Playground dance series. Working within dance as a presenter has been a great way to meet new artists and reconnect with old friends. Each show reminds me of the rich and diverse dance scene we have here in the Twin Cities. I am often reminded of how supportive the dance community can be when they join together to perform in a shared performance. It's a very rewarding experience to see what choreographers are creating and to hear the appreciation these dancers and audiences have for the work presented on the stages at Patrick's Cabaret and the Perpich Center for Arts Education. I would like to thank all of the artists, venues and audiences that have supported both the Kinetic Kitchen and Kinetic Playground over the past several years. Kinetic Playground January 24 1:30pm FREE youth performance Perpich Center for Arts Education 6125 Olson Memorial Highway Golden Valley, MN 55422 The Kinetic Playground dance series brings together young dancers for master classes and joint performances in a non-competitive environment. Curator Sarah LaRose-Holland explains, "The Kinetic Playground is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what youth within the state of Minnesota are focusing on in their dance experiences. One of the goals of the series is to help young artists develop a sense of support for other youth within the discipline of dance." Morning master classes will be taught by Tamin Totzke & Dustin Haug of Vessel Performance(contact improv) and Stacy Pottinger of Christopher Watson Dance Company & Kinetic Evolutions (modern dance). The informal performance at 1:30 PM features Deuxmensions Junior Dance Theatre, The Phipps Center for the Arts, the Perpich Center for Arts Education, Young Dance, and Fergus Falls School of Dance. Admission to the afternoon performance is free for parents, teachers and community members. This activity is made possible by the support from the Perpich Center for Arts Education.

They will perform “Who’s Chair” and “Signals Fading”. Performing with FOOTHOLDS will be Debra McGee, Bryan Evans, and Jim Lieberthal. “Who’s Chair,” created in 2001, is a comic duet to a monologue about who gets to sit in the chair? Me, or my cat? This work was first presented in the 30th Anniversary of Choreographer’s Evening at the Walker Art Center. “Signals Fading” is about the despair that develops when people realize they are loosing touch with their faculties… TAJA WILL AND THE VEHICLES OF PEACE will perform two short dance works. "My Blood" is a solo that has been evolving for three years. This piece explores the connection to self, through self, and journey from being nourished by a source to feeding the soul bliss, in times of dreams and nightmares. "Episodes of: boys will be boys" is a collaboration between Taja and her male company members. This work was created from questions around stereotypical masculine traits, specifically those in young boys and their habits in play. ECLECTIC EDGE ENSEMBLE is a contemporary jazz dance company with a diverse repertory that’s directed by KARIS SLOSS. Eclectic Edge Ensemble collaborates with local musicians, choreographers, and other artists to create musically and theatrically inspired work. The company aims to present a fresh perspective on jazz dance in the Twin Cities creating accessible performance experiences that connect to audiences through the pure joy of movement. Eclectic Edge Ensemble will present two dance works: Living a Jig and The Four Seasons. Living a Jig: One day told through a jig features music by local composer Warren Park. Warren Park is a graduate of the U of M composition program and has been an active composer and pianist in the Twin Cities for over 30 years. This is his third collaboration with EEE, which premiered July 2008. The Four Seasons: is brought to life with a score by the Vitamin String Quartet. EEE will be showing the explosions of heat and warm wind of summer followed by the ever changing fall. STACY POTTINGER will be sharing a new work she’s been creating with students from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls dance program. Stacy Pottinger has returned to the Twin Cities after completing a Master of Fine Arts in dance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as well as a Master of Arts in dance education from SUNY College at Brockport. Pottinger has worked with choreographers in upstate New York including Missy Pfohl Smith of BIODANCE, Juanita Suarez, Courtney Andrews, and Maura Keefe, while continuing to perform as a visiting artist with CWDC. Her artistic interests have included a variety of projects including works presented in Minnesota, New York, Wisconsin, and most recently Indiana, where she choreographed for Ball State University dance majors. In addition to showing her own choreography, Stacy currently performs with the Christopher Watson Dance Company and Kinetic Evolutions.

Those sticky spills that accompany us while forging through messy challenges cling to our personality, our moods and our state of mind. KELLY RADERMACHER delivers movement and video oozing with the kind of raw reactionary emotion that occurs during dramatic moments in an ordinary day and difficult transitions in life. Quirky and blotted characters embrace the stains of on the front of life's shirt while coloring the human's ability to persevere through insignificant yet trying times. Using white tables on the stage as both video projection surfaces and dancing tools, Radermacher sculpts a blank canvas in which the colorful and relatable characters can splatter and smear their unbalanced emotions. Woven with saturated colors, screaming emotions and gaping banality, Radermacher's collection of images bathe your mind, bleed into your memory and imprint stains on your heart. A few words from KENCY ROBERSON about the dances he'll be showing. The concept for my choreography originates from a number I initially conceived for a cabaret setting, but performed on the stage at Intermedia Arts for BCE 2003, titled "Rough Guide to Negrodom". "Buttons" showcases dance ensemble fusing modern, salsa and hip hop. "Thank full" explores a series of solos enacting interpersonal loves and losses. KINETIC EVOLUTIONS will premiere "Similarly Different" as a work in progress, featuring dancers Lindsay Anderson, Stacy Pottinger, Una Setia & Jen Swanson. This new work by Sarah LaRose-Holland showcases two trios, each capturing its own essence of strength and beauty while delving into the grounded solidarity of female friendship and support. As a reflection upon Holland's earlier choreographic influences, "Similarly Different" allows the viewer to savor movement moments and contemplate relationships between women while enjoying exquisite performances by Anderson, Pottinger, Setia and Swanson. Don't miss your chance to see what Kinetic Evolutions has been cooking with both new and seasoned company members for the December Kinetic Kitchen! Tamin Totzke and Dustin Haug of VESSEL PERFORMANCE, moved back home to Minnesota in August 2007 after 10 years of living and performing on the west coast. They have shown work at Bryant Lake Bowl, The Bottling House Theater, The Ritz and most recently The Walker's Choreographer's Evening. They co-teach contact improvisation at Zenon School of Dance and have been found traveling through Midwest colleges, offering their performance lab, Body in Space/Space in Body. Riveted to the physicality of weight-based movement, Tamin and Dustin disorient themselves from the beginning and find out that there is no end. They employ the genius of contact improvisation and the specificity of set choreography to develop personal dialogs of texture and movement. They are interested in deconstructing audience-performer relationships through the "right now" presence of improvisation and the play of proximity. Their work focuses on developing an intuitive ecology of space where invented organisms cycle through life, breath, growth, death, and rebirth.

Exhibition Preview, Performance and Reception: Trisha Brown Thursday, April 17 7:00 pm Walker Art Center Cinema and Bazinet Garden Lobby Free tickets available from 6 pm at the Bazinet Garden Lobby desk In conjunction with an exhibition of her drawings, modern dance legend Trisha Brown improvises movements across a large piece of paper placed on the Medtronic Gallery floor. Witness this drawing/performance as it is simulcast in the Cinema and online on the Walker Channel, then join a reception in the Bazinet Garden Lobby preceding the opening of the exhibition Trisha Brown: So That the Audience Does Not Know Whether I Have Stopped Dancing at 8 pm. From 8-9pm The Ballet Rousse will perform "Planes", created by Trisha Brown's in 1968. The Ballet Rousse (Sally Rousse, Sarah LaRose-Holland, Galen Treuer, Cathy Wright, and Mallory Kling) will perform April 17 at 8pm and again April 19th from 11-2pm. The April 17th performance is free and to see the April 19th performance one will need to pay gallery admission to the Walker Art Center. The exhibition will be presented from April 17 - July 20, 2008 in the Walker's Medtronic Gallery (7th floor). Several Twin Cities dance companies will perform this piece throughout the summer.
