Actually, wildfires now affect all the country all year round. Currently on display in my exhibit at the Falcon Bank in St. Cloud, 1010 West St. Germain Street downtown, with 31 other paintings.November 4 - December 31st, 2012.
People say wolves kill cattle -- cattle are the real problem. Cows used for food are not sustainable, they pollute the environment, and the meat produced by big ag is not good for human or animal consumption. The wolves know what they are doing. As for hunting; this wolf has been made to appear fierce and wary and very much disapproving of anyone who would choose to hunt it. Currently on display in my exhibit at the Falcon Bank in St. Cloud, 1010 West St. Germain Street downtown, with 31 other paintings.November 4 - December 31st, 2012.
It refers to the secret information that is the content of the chemicals used for gas "fracking". When people are sickened by these chemicals, they can't even be told what the chemicals are that are making them sick, not even by their doctors. The chemical information is called Proprietary Information, a trade secret. This practice threatens everyone in the United States as more and more gas fracking will occur in the future.
I worry about the human contribution to climate change and especially our inability to solve the problem (so far). The source for “Erosion” is a photo I took in the Badlands of South Dakota. The eroded land represents a place out of balance, eroded beyond usefulness due to drought. Two people are dancing, oblivious to their environment. This painting is also about extinction, as the rhino watching the people represents the Western Black Rhino which was just recently declared extinct, an extinction caused by both climate change and poachers. I can’t help but wonder if extinction may be the fate of people some day too, if we don’t change how we do things.
The finished painting is almost like a graphic design. It’s often true that what you see as a finished painting is nothing (or little) like the original concept intended by the artist. . . .
