I am making this coffee table as a traning piece, and as an example of what I believe may be a style people may enjoy. The top is made of grey-green slate and mild steel diamond plates at the slate intersections.
It is made of all red oak. It took me about 3 months in between school and working for food money.
1 square milimeter of a rock

While mostly quartz, the interplay of grey and subdle shades of ble and brown are amazing. This rock came out of a subduction zone 100 million years ago in what is now west central Turkey.
The interface between the metal and cement floor are the basis for a new line of pieces I will be producing shortly.
