Gelatin Silver Print, 20 x 20, 2003
In the “Heart” photo series, I portray a woman’s hands holding heart sculptures three-times the size of the human heart. The first sculpture is that of gnarled wood, the second is of limestone and, the third of red earthenware. The sculptures represent some of the types of hearts (or emotions) that certain individuals develop in response to specific events in their lives. The various hearts also refer to the treatment given to others based on the condition of the affected individual’s heart.
