Somewhere between the activity of painting and editing, a composition will develop. I search for a dialouge between the initial marks I put down and the rendered specifics in the work. The initial marks I let show through and become focal points within the picture plane. It's about the history of a painting and recognizing the importance of these first marks.
I am also interested in the psychology of a painting. The work tends to be theatrical and take place on stage-like settings. I focus on the characters themselves and not a specific, but paying attention to what takes place and in what sequence. From this interaction the paintings develop into themselves.
