Statement

This was originally a stained glass window design for the Rochester Public Library. There was a call for artists to submit ideas that represented the four cultures that had settled there (African American, Hmong, Native American, and Latin American). I wanted to use symbols that weren't overused (e.g., the silhouette of the African continent), that anyone from any culture could instinctively relate to, and used the Aztec sun calendar as a template so there wouldn't appear to be a hierarchy.
