©Linda Bergerson--September 2006. THE GREATEST LOVE - mixed media collage 3” x 3” centered on 7.5” x 7.5” 300# watercolor paper with deckled edges. For purposes of greater clarity, only the image is shown. I was moved by the documentary The March of the Penguins and wanted to portray their precarious survival against the harsh conditions of the Antarctic that they must endure to raise their young. In the background, the Northern Lights bounce of the frozen icecaps. The beige tissue background was prepared with black acrylic paint strokes to emulate the dull sky; rich silver foil mimics the Northern Lights behind the found images of the father penguin and baby and the icy wasteland.

This work -The Little Emperor- was the 3rd place winner in the Oil/ Acrylic/ Mixed Media category in the IMAGE 2006: The 20th Annual East Central Regional Art Exhibition.
