ink/watercolor 2002
faith is from 1999, and was one of my earliest pieces done in the one-line, stream of consciousness style. i like her because she doesn't immediately give herself away even though she's got something really cool to say; something about trusting in what you can't see but is most definitely there. i love her confident smile and look of total repose. she's exactly where i'd like to be all the time.
pat becker of the mille lacs messenger reviewed my show and made a comment referring directly to this piece, making the connection between this painting and the faith that young artists need when just starting out. couldn't have said it better myself.
