Statement

The Computer allows the "graphic " designer to rapidly render an image in an abstract plane. I have by accident developed the use of the "mouse" to draw on the screen. I have decided to use this "image" to concept "paintings" and not as the final outcome of the process.
Computer generated images may dazzle the eye, but art is felt in the informed reflection over time on the experience of the eye. As a Chicano muralist I believe I must produce paintings that after ten years of constant viewing will still surprise the audience with new meaning.
Much of what is called "mural" by the uninformed is in fact no more than "billboard" art. Something to be seen in 10 seconds and immediately discarded into the visual garbage heap of the mind.
Chicano Art is committed to creating art with meaning and effect in the life of the community.
