Reviews

"I had the pleasure of seeing Emily Gunyou for the first time a few months ago, and I can tell you right now that this show will make my top ten 'must see' list."... "Emily Gunyou is simply fantastic." - Kate Hoff, FULL FRONTAL FRINGE

"Always up for new takes on classic stories, I'm also always up for putting myself in the hands of really good actors (as playwright or audience member). Emily is one of those actors." - Mathew Everett, SINGLE WHITE GEEK

"...stop talking, I'm sold. The fact that this kind of skill is placed at the service of classical mythology means that I'm going to be in the audience." ... "First of all, this is a masterful performance.... and it's the one show I've felt compelled to give a standing ovation. It's a must-see this year." -Phillip Low, WOMB WITH A VIEW

"Gunyou gives a 30-minute performance that is beautiful and tautly intense. Down to her crumpled toes she lives each of the many characters and makes an old story new." -Andre Francisco, MNARTISTS.ORG

"...a solo-theater piece, that utterly wiped my slate, cleaned my clock and humbled my craven soul." -John Munger, GOING THROUGH THE MOVEMENTS

"The result is a discomfiting intensity, a nice depiction of the struggle between the heart and head, and a sense of a work still in progress, though not lacking in flashes of insight and beauty." -Quinton Skinner, CITY PAGES

"Emily Gunyou is an absolute powerhouse. Catapulting herself onstage, she delves into the mythic story of Orpheus and Eurydice in order to confront her own problems with love. Her dynamic one-woman show is truly engaging, thanks to Gunyou's ability to project raw emotion in every direction of Rarig's Arena Stage. Though just slightly more than 30-minutes long, this performance feels like an epic journey. This is a not-to-miss show." -Jeffery E. McCants, STAR TRIBUNE
