Chimera No. 2.1 is a surround sound remix of Chimera No. 2, featuring the performance of the work by violinist Marion Judish. It was premiered at the SEAMUS 2007 National Conference in Ames, Iowa.
Chimera No. 2 was written for Iva Kramperová for premier at the Mladé Pódium Festival,
Pardubice, Czech Republic 12 September 2006, the second of a series of works for solo instrument and fixed media electroacoustic sound. The first, Chimera, was written in 2000 for violist Coca Bochonko.
There are two definitions of chimera that apply to this composition. The first definition of chimera is a fantastic or illusory dream, suggesting the surreal. The second is of a hybrid organism, created by mixing genetically different tissues or animal parts.
