My third coffee table, this design is very clean with minimal, straight, smooth lines. The 7/8" solid granite top is set into a quarter-sawn white oak frame, its corners reinforced with 1/8" cherry splines. The (unattached) top is settled atop a very simple frame of stainless square & round tube. It is kept in place with a series of "stop blocks" that allow the wood frame to shift with humidity changes and hopefully not split.
