The Elements of Art are my inspiration.
As I begin to work on a new piece, I allow
myself to draw simple forms and lines.
These elements dace upon the paper
until the perfect composition is found.
This meditative process motivates
me to continue working.
I find that this way of working creates a
sense of balance in my work and me.
The works included in the series
“Bare Elements” are titled as “Untitled.”
This allows the viewer to make free associations.
I choose not to impose personal thoughts or
content onto the works and viewers.
Two works in this series
(“Untitled (Distance)” and
“Untitled (One Comes from the Other)”)
offer suggestions in parenthesis.
These suggestions offer insight, but still
allow the viewer to experience the
work in his or her own way.
I feel that within our culture we are
pushed into conforming to the dominate
ideology- which governs the way
in which we think and feel.
Through these works, I have strived to create
a time and space where one can
think freely and allow the forms
to dance upon the page.
