Pin/brooch. Seed and optical glass beads, fiber and a Swarovski crystal. Can become a pendant by putting a chain through the top loop of the beadwork.
I started this piece with the intention of making a bracelet, but after completing the base, I ran out of inspiration. The plain base spent time in the "UFO" (UnFinished Object) pile for several months until one day I realized {with a "dope slap" -thank you, Car Talk guys) that art doesn't have to have a pre-conceived "destiny". So I fiddled around with the plain "strap", twisting and bending it, until I settled on the current configuration. Then came the hard part - deciding what (and how much) to add to it. Although I appreciate the concept of "less is more", I tend to make things a lot more complex than they need to be. In this case, I settled for a design that does "double-duty" as a pin or a pendant, instead of covering it up with doo-dads as I had the urge to do.
I thank my "studio night" friends for "staging an intervention" for the sake of this piece.
