This piece arose in response to the gorgeous, delicate beauty of lisianthus, mixed with its foil, the darkly elegant, mysterious millet. I appreciate the combination on so many levels. As a floral designer, such healthy lisianthus is rare to find; and the addition of millet quite stunning. Combined they symbolize Life: light & lovely beauty mixed with the bitter, darker emotions. Opacity and transperancy, fullness and leanness in balance. The theme is echoed in the goblet overturned; both goblets are lovely while empty; full of light, yet offering no substance. The end of romance, perhaps? Or the beginning of wisdom.
