David Means as Magister Ludi, along the Staight of Juan de Fuca, Washington.
Magister Ludi began as an invitation from Dan Senn to put something together for Newsense Intermedia's contribution to "First Night Tacoma Festival", New Year's Eve of 1996. Dan worked with the Tacoma Art Center to obtain a vacant retail space for ..."an interlocking set of sound, video and performance installations." I developed three connected performance installations which examined aspects of Hess' "The Glass Bead Game". Using visual and documentary materials from the Pacific Northwest, such as along the Straits of Juan de Fuca, I continue to develop mediated visual performances of this piece.
