My Friend David Pitman asked me if i wanted to do something for his bizarre fish house/art gallery thing he was doing on a local lake. It was a two part thing. Half the show would happen on the lake in December, half the show would happen in the Soap Factory in June.

I wanted to do something that would be the same, but drastically different in the summer and the winter. Water was a nice choice, because its frozen in winter, and all runny in the summer. I started focusing on water balloons. I was amazed to find how beautiful a frozen water balloon looks. Go and fill up a water balloon and throw it in your freezer for a week. Pull it out and peel off the balloon skin, and your gonna say Awwwwwww.

Anyway, we filled up A LOT of water balloons and froze them in my front yard. We then grabbed a ready rents truck and filled it up with the balloons. Driving around with a van full of frozen water balloons is a very strange and exhilarating feeling.

we then dumped all the balloons on the lake and proceesed to strip them of their balloon skins and stack them into what would become a big glowing phone booth looking thing. We used this stuff called electroluminecent wire hooked up to a motorcycle battery to allow the sculpture to glow internaly.

It was fun, but BITTER COLD. During construction, the temperature was steady at -15 to -20 degrees. I want to thank Aaron Wojack and Willy Nordstrom for all their work and help.
