Artist Statement
Digital art has become a new way for me to express beauty by creating images and videos by corrupting them and changing their appearance dramatically. This has allowed me to show how beauty exists in new media and digital art. Technology is evolving continuously and it’s emergence in the arts has become more dominant. Its omnipresent place has enabled me to work with the static and chaotic elements of sound and video that exists virtually to create artwork. I work to juxtapose between beauty and corruption to create a dichotomy between technology and ourselves. The unique relationship subsists for the sole purpose to pursue new goals and ideals in art.
Through these pieces, I create images to give technology a voice that speaks to beauty and corruption. Inspired by the errors and glitches that occur when technology malfunctions, this body of work represents how abstracting and decompiling images and video can create a voice that ultimately communicates a new kind of beauty. These saturated images embody light, space, and intensity through the manipulation of color, structure, and texture. The space that I have created for this series fuses the interaction between humans and technology and thus creates a unique understanding between the two entities. Although the images appear to be raw and noisy, all of them come together in a harmonious way through the use of unity, sound, and color repetition.
